Sou’Wester Garden Club Receives Award |
|
The Sou’Wester Garden Club, a member of the Oregon State Federation of Garden Clubs, was recently presented with a trophy honoring their work in establishing and maintaining the Historic Garden at the Butterfield Cottage, a part of the Seaside Historical Museum. “This award for historic preservation is important and hasn’t been awarded for ten years. We are very proud. The Garden at Butterfield Cottage is being added to lists of suggested garden tours and with the coming of the Lewis and Clark bicentennial Celebration, many people will enjoy it,” said Joan Johnson, former president The Club meets monthly at the Butterfield Cottage to do the necessary chores involved in maintaining and planting the historic garden. Earlier this year the Club received a grant from the Principal Financial Group. The grant was established by the National Garden Clubs, Inc. to enhance gardens at historic sites in communities across the nation.
